Sleeping Beauty, or Little Briar Rose, also titled in English as The Sleeping Beauty in the Woods, is a classic fairy tale about a princess who is cursed to sleep for a hundred years by an evil fairy, to be awakened by a handsome prince at the end of them. The good fairy, realizing that the princess would be frightened if alone when she awakens, uses her wand to put every living person and animal in the palace asleep, to awaken when the princess does. The earliest known version of the story is found in the narrative Perceforest, composed between 1330 and 1344. The tale was first published by Giambattista Basile in his collection of tales titled The Pentamerone (published posthumously in 1634). Basile’s version was later adapted and published by Charles Perrault in Histoires ou contes du temps passé in 1697. The version that was later collected and printed by the Brothers Grimm was an orally transmitted version of the literary tale published by Perrault. The Aarne-Thompson classification system for folktales classifies “Sleeping Beauty” as being a 410 tale type, meaning it includes a princess who is forced into an enchanted sleep and is later awakened reversing the magic placed upon her. The story has been adapted many times throughout history and has continued to be retold by modern storytellers throughout various media.

Early contributions to the tale include the medieval courtly romance Perceforest (published in 1528). In this tale, a princess named Zellandine falls in love with a man named Troylus. Her father sends him to perform tasks to prove himself worthy of her, and while he is gone, Zellandine falls into an enchanted sleep. Troylus finds her and rapes her in her sleep, when their child is born, the child draws from her finger the flax that caused her sleep. She realizes from the ring Troylus left her that he was the father, and Troylus later returns to marry her. Another early literary predecessor is the Provençal versified novel Fraire de Joi e sor de Plaser (1320-1340). The second part of the Sleeping Beauty tale, in which the princess and her children are almost put to death but instead are hidden, may have been influenced by Genevieve of Brabant. Even earlier influences come from the story of the sleeping Brynhild in the Volsunga saga and the tribulations of saintly female martyrs in early Christian hagiography conventions. Following these early renditions, the tale was first published by Italian poet Giambattista Basile who lived from 1575 to 1632. The name “Tweety” is a play on words, as it originally meant “sweetie“, along with “tweet” being an English onomatopoeia for the sounds of birds. His characteristics are based on Red Skelton’s famous “Junior the Mean Widdle Kid“. He appeared in 46 cartoons during the golden age, made between 1942 and 1962. His shape more closely suggests that of a baby bird, which is what he was during his early appearances (although the “baby bird” aspect has been used in a few later cartoons as a plot device). The yellow feathers were added, but otherwise he retained the baby-bird shape. In his early appearances in Bob Clampett cartoons, Tweety is a very aggressive character who tries anything to foil Sylvester, even kicking the cat when he is down. One of his most notable malicious moments is in the cartoon Birdy and the Beast, where a cat chases Tweety by flying until he remembers that cats cannot fly, causing him to fall. Michelangelo TMNT Statue, based on the Nickelodeon TV series. The only thing Michelangelo loves more than a hot slice of pizza is shredding on his skateboard. Sporting an orange mask and armed with his trusty nunchaku, the youngest of the Turtles rips his deck through the sewers. Michelangelo, nicknamed Mike or Mikey, is a fictional superhero and one of the 4 main characters of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comics and all related media. He is usually depicted wearing an orange eye mask. His signature weapons are dual nunchaku, though he has also been portrayed using other weapons, such as a grappling hook, manriki-gusari, tonfa, and a 3-section staff (in some action figures). Michaelangelo is the most naturally skilled of the 4 brothers, but prefers to have a good time rather than train. The youngest of the group, he is shown to be rather immature, he is known for his wise-cracks, love of skateboarding, witty optimism, and, like his brothers, love of pizza.

Michelangelo was given a much bigger role in the 1987 cartoon series and subsequent series and films, directed at a younger audience, than in the more serious Mirage comic books and Image Comics series, set in the Image Universe, which were aimed at an older audience, expressing interest in poetry and romancing horridus. He often coins most of their catchphrases, such as “Cowabunga!“. Like all of the brothers, he is named after an Italian Renaissance artist, in this case, he is named after Michelangelo Buonarroti. His name was originally spelled Michaelangelo by the original creators, possibly misspelling his namesake’s name wrong by confusion with “Michael“. In the Mirage comics, all 4 of the Turtles wear red masks, but to tell them apart, he was given an orange mask instead. Aladdin’s Vintage Magic Genie Lamp Statue

This Aladdin’s Magic Genie Lamp Statue build a mysterious and vintage atmosphere. This lovely genie lamp is made embossed with a floral design. Genie’s lamp (alternatively referred to as the Magic Lamp or Aladdin’s lamp) is a magical oil lamp featured in Aladdin, whose owner has the ability to summon and temporarily control a wish-granting Genie with cosmic power. As it contains an all-powerful servant, the lamp has been coveted by many for thousands of years. The lamp has existed for millennia, though its origins are unknown. As one of the most powerful objects in the universe, the lamp was hidden deep within the Cave of Wonders, a Cavern that can only be summoned by a golden scarab and entered by a pure individual known as the Diamond in the Rough.

The lamp itself resembles an oil lamp, which have been used as “genie lamps” in Arabian folklore for generations. In color, it is completely bronze. The interior was described by Genie as very cramped and small. Despite this, the interior has been fully seen as part of the Inside the Genie’s Lamp featurette, in which the lamp boasts a large living room, dining room, a master bedroom with a “fly-in” closet, and even a garden decorated with topiaries, flora, and water features. Additional areas that are mentioned (but unseen) include a ballroom and a breakfast nook.

The myth of the lamp refers to the original allegory or Myth of the Cave. The Allegory of the Cave, or Plato’s Cave, is an allegory presented by the Greek philosopher Plato in his work Republic (514a–520a) to compare “the effect of education and the lack of it on our nature“. It is written as a dialogue between Plato’s brother Glaucon and his mentor Socrates, narrated by the latter. The allegory is presented after the analogy of the sun (508b–509c) and the analogy of the divided line (509d–511e). In the allegory, Socrates describes a group of people who have lived chained to the wall of a cave all their lives, facing a blank wall. The people watch shadows projected on the wall from objects passing in front of a fire behind them and give names to these shadows. The shadows are the prisoners’ reality, but are not accurate representations of the real world.

Three higher levels exist: the natural sciences, mathematics, geometry, and deductive logic; and the theory of forms. Socrates explains how the philosopher is like a prisoner who is freed from the cave and comes to understand that the shadows on the wall are actually not reality at all. A philosopher aims to understand and perceive the higher levels of reality. However, the other inmates of the cave do not even desire to leave their prison, for they know no better life. Socrates remarks that this allegory can be paired with previous writings, namely the analogy of the sun and the analogy of the divided line. In truth, the imperious Jafar held passionate disdain for the Sultan. He dedicated the latter half of his life to gaining ownership of a magic lamp containing an all powerful genie, to that end, Jafar would control cosmic power, which he would use to overtake the throne and the world at large.

Jafar is loosely based on the wicked sorcerer and vizier from the Aladdin folk tale in the One Thousand and One Nights collection of stories. With an elegant, yet cheeky approach to villainy, coupled with a dry sense of humor and menace, Jafar is amongst Disney’s most renowned villains. Jafar is the second most powerful authority in Agrabah, answering only to the Sultan. He is always accompanied by his sarcastic, devious pet parrot, Iago. Jafar primarily operated from a secret lair hidden behind the walls of his bedroom in the Sultan’s palace. Whilst presenting a charming and respectable exterior to the Sultan and the people of Agrabah, he secretly holds everyone around him in contempt and is a power-hungry individual. Towards Agrabah’s royal family, he constantly manipulates the Sultan by means of hypnotizing him with a magical snake-headed staff, which he always carries on his person. He had traveled widely and amassed a wide knowledge of magical artifacts and legends. Until he uses Genie’s powers to become a sorcerer, and later a genie, however, his magical abilities were limited to the use of such artifacts as he has collected, and his prowess as an accomplished alchemist.

Jafar also had some contacts within the Agrabah underworld, including the thief Gazeem. Little is known about Jafar’s past. At some point, he purchased Iago from a bazaar as his minion, as Jafar noted in The Return of Jafar. As far as Jafar’s family goes, he has a twin sister named Nasira, who tried bringing her brother back to life in the game Nasira’s Revenge. She respects Jafar and the sibling bond between them is quite strong. Jafar’s Mesmer Cobra Scepter is a cobra-headed scepter owned by Jafar, in Aladdin. Initially and primarily used as a means of hypnosis, the ruby eyes made those who gazed into them become susceptible to Jafar’s suggestions and obey his every order. It was eventually destroyed by Aladdin when he discovered its true function. Once Jafar wishes to become the world’s most powerful sorcerer, he gains a new staff that is imbued with various magical abilities.
