Batman Arkham Knight Funko POP

From Batman: Arkham Knight, Batman, as a stylized vinyl from Funko POP! Batman: Arkham Knight is a 2015 action-adventure game developed by Rocksteady Studios and published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. Based on the DC Comics superhero Batman, it is the successor to the 2013 video game Batman: Arkham Origins, and the 4th main installment in the Batman: Arkham series. Written by Sefton Hill, Ian Ball and Martin Lancaster, Arkham Knight is inspired by the long-running comic book mythos. Set 9 months after the events of 2011‘s Batman: Arkham City, the game’s main storyline follows Batman as he confronts Scarecrow, who has launched an attack on Gotham City, causing a citywide evacuation. Scarecrow, with the help of the mysterious Arkham Knight, plots to unite Batman’s greatest foes in an attempt to finally destroy Batman. The game is presented from a third-person perspective, with a primary focus on Batman’s melee combat, stealth abilities, detective skills, and gadgets. Batman can freely move around the open world of Gotham City, interacting with characters and undertaking missions, and unlocking new areas by progressing through the main story or obtaining new equipment. The player is able to complete side missions away from the main story to unlock additional content and collectible items.

Combat focuses on chaining attacks together against numerous foes while avoiding damage, while stealth allows Batman to conceal himself around an area, using gadgets and the environment to silently eliminate enemies. Arkham Knight introduces the Batmobile as a playable vehicle, which is used for transportation, puzzle solving and combat. Development on Arkham Knight began in 2011 after completion of Arkham City and took place over four years. Rocksteady opted to use its own writers for the main story with collaboration by comic book writer Geoff Johns, choosing to replace Paul Dini who had worked on Arkham Asylum and Arkham City. The introduction of the Batmobile required a change in the team’s design methodology, as the previous games’ city designs were too narrow and confined to allow smooth travel for the vehicle. At release, the game was the fastest selling game of 2015, and the fastest selling game in the Arkham series, reaching over 5 million units sold globally by October 2015. The game also received several accolades, including Best Game and Best Action-Adventure Game. It was also featured in many lists of the best video games of 2015 and of the 2010s. A continuation of the series, titled Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, will release in 2022.

From One Piece, Sabo of the Revolutionary Army, as a stylized Funko POP. Sabo is the Revolutionary Army’s chief of staff, recognized as the No. 2 of the entire organization outranked only by Supreme Commander Monkey D. Dragon. He is also the sworn brother of the notorious pirates Monkey D. Luffy and the late Portgas D. Ace. Raised in nobility by Outlook III and Didit in the Goa Kingdom, Sabo ran away at the age of 10 with the intention of becoming a pirate and writing a book about his travels, and met Ace and Luffy while living as a vagabond in Gray Terminal. He tried to set sail just a few months afterward to get away from his family, but had his ship destroyed by the World Noble Saint Jalmack. He was saved by Dragon but lost his memory in the process, and so devoted his life to the service of the Revolutionary Army. However, his memories would return 10 years later after hearing about Ace’s death. 2 years after regaining his memories, Sabo would reunite with Luffy and also carry Ace’s legacy by consuming his Devil Fruit, the Mera Mera no Mi. He acts as an ally of Luffy during the Dressrosa Arc, as well as the movies One Piece Film: Gold and One Piece: Stampede. As the Chief of Staff of the Revolutionary Army, Sabo has command over all lower ranking members and answers only to the leader himself. His bounty of Beli 602,000,000 proves that the World Government views him as an extremely dangerous threat. According to Ace, who initally planned for Sabo to become his navigator, Sabo also has some experience in navigation.

Porunga Funko POP, Funko POPS & Dragon Ball Funko POPS, Dragon Ball Z Dragon Porunga

Porunga Funko POP, Funko POPS & Dragon Ball Funko POPS, Dragon Ball Z Dragon Porunga

Dragon Ball Z Dragon Porunga Funko POP

From Dragon Ball Z, Dragon Porunga, as a stylized Funko POP. Porunga is the wish-granting dragon from Planet Namek in the Dragon Ball manga and the anime Dragon Ball Z. His name in Namekian language translates to “Dragon of Dreams” or “Dragon of Law“. In the anime, Dende refers to Porunga as the “Dragon of Love“, “God of Dreams“, “Maker of Dreams“, or even “Granter of Dreams” in Dragon Ball Z Kai. Porunga is much more brutal-looking than Shenron, with a heavily muscled upper body (large pectoral muscles, shoulders, arms, and well defined abdominal muscles). Instead of looking snake-like in appearance, like Shenron does, Porunga appears to be more alligator-like, bearing great resemblance to the Naga, a group of serpent deities in Hindu and Buddhist mythology. He has a long green slithery tail instead of legs. He also has a large fin down the center of his back, and large spikes on his shoulders and head, as well as 2 antennae on his forehead similar to the Namekian people. Besides being able to be summoned sooner, Porunga is also more powerful than Shenron in that he can grant 3 wishes per summoning instead of 1 or 2/3 (while originally only able to grant a single wish, by the Cell Games Saga, Dende modified Shenron to perform up to 3 wishes but can only perform 2 if 1 is used for a mass-scale revival). Like Shenron, Porunga’s wish-granting powers are limited by the power of his creator; Guru originally, and Moori later on. Any wish that is encompassed within his creator’s power is able to be granted.

Unlike Shenron, Porunga is able to perform the same wish asked of it multiple times. While able to revive people the same, so long as they didn’t die of natural causes, Porunga could only bring one person back from the dead per wish as compared to Shenron who can revive an unspecified number per wish. His natural power is also very strong, as he was able to replenish Goku‘s energy with ease. However, Porunga is not limited to the number of times the said person can be revived, nor is there any known time-limit for how long a person can remain dead before they are unable to be revived. Later, Porunga’s power is strengthened by Moori to bring back as many lives as needed without any reduction in the remaining number of wishes. Also, while understanding other languages, wishes must be given in the Namekian language. This limitation prevented Frieza‘s wish for immortality from being granted, possibly as safeguard against offworlders misusing the Dragon Balls. Porunga is still able to respond to inquiries about his wish-granting abilities not made in the Namekian, such as when Dende asked Porunga in human language during the battle against Kid Buu to restore Goku’s full strength. The one exception to the language rule is when Porunga fails to understand the wording of the wish, to which he will still grant the requested wish if translated in another language, as seen from Porunga initially not understanding Dende’s wish to revive all but the evil inhabitants of Earth.

Kakashi Hatake famed as Kakashi of the Sharingan Funko POP

From Naruto Shippuden, Kakashi Hatake, as a stylized Funko POP! Kakashi Hatake is a shinobi of Konohagakure’s Hatake clan. Famed as Kakashi of the Sharingan, he is one of Konoha’s most talented ninja, regularly looked to for advice and leadership despite his personal dislike of responsibility. To his students on Team 7, Kakashi emphasises the importance of teamwork, he himself received this lesson, along with the Sharingan, from his childhood friend, Obito Uchiha. After the Fourth Shinobi World War, Kakashi becomes Konoha’s Sixth Hokage (Rokudaime Hokage, literally meaning: Sixth Fire Shadow). One of the strongest ninja Konohagakure ever produced, Kakashi has earned recognition on sight by various high-level ninja. A prodigy, Kakashi showcased highly advanced skill from a young age, evidenced by his rapid rise through the ninja ranks. His prowess is said to rival an entire country. The S-Rank members of Akatsuki acknowledge his might, he outmanoeuvred Itachi Uchiha (albeit he couldn’t use his Mangekyō Sharingan at the time), fought Kisame Hoshigaki and Kakuzu to a standstill, and was deemed a major threat by Pain.

After Kaguya‘s defeat, Kakashi‘s combat prowess continued to increase, despite the loss of his Sharingan, due to no longer needing to passively expend chakra because he could not deactivate it like an Uchiha. Against Koji Kashin, one of Kara‘s strongest Inners, Kakashi was able to pressure the foe into retreating. In general, Kakashi is very versatile with advanced proficiency in countless areas including mastery of all three main ninja skills. Naruto Uzumaki says Kakashi is smarter than Shikamaru Nara, has a better sense of smell than Kiba Inuzuka, is more adept with the Sharingan than Sasuke Uchiha, and has better taijutsu skill than Rock Lee, each of whom are well-known for their high capacities in their respective areas. Kakashi’s genjutsu prowess is able to use basic techniques to major effect for intimidation and distraction. Kakashi’s combat and tactical prowess are so revered, that many foresaw his rise to Hokage status years before it happened. However, the Sage of Six Paths believed Kakashi’s greatest strength is as a teacher, leader, and friend, all of which proved vital in Kaguya Ōtsutsuki‘s defeat.

Captain Atom Funko POP, Funko POPS & DC Comics Funko POPS, DC Heroes: Captain Atom

Captain Atom Funko POP, Funko POPS & DC Comics Funko POPS, DC Heroes: Captain Atom

DC Heroes Captain Atom Funko POP

From DC Heroes, Captain Atom, stylized as a Funko POP! Captain Atom is a nuclear-powered super-hero. Beginning his career in the military as a member of the U.S. Air Force, he was framed for a crime he did not commit. To avoid a death sentence, he was forced to undergo scientific experimentation. His powers stem from an ability to tap into the quantum field. He has also been a member of the Justice League and the Living Assault Weapons. Captain Atom was created for Charlton Comics by Joe Gill and Steve Ditko, first appearing in Space Adventures (Volume 2) #33 (1960) Cary Bates, Greg Weisman and Pat Broderick reimagined him when Charlton was bought out by DC Comics, beginning in Captain Atom (Volume 2) #1 (1987). Nathaniel Adam was a United States Air Force officer during the Vietnam War era.

He was framed for a crime he didn’t commit and sentenced to death under the watch of Col. Wade Eiling in 1968. To avoid execution, he was invited to participate in a military experiment with little chance of survival, with the promise of a presidential pardon should he survive. The experiment involved testing the hull of a crashed alien ship’s durability by exploding a super nuclear bomb under it while Adam was in the ship. Against the odds, Adam survived, the alien metal melding with his body, while the excess energy threw him forward in time nearly twenty years. Captain Atom‘s powers are impossible to quantify as they are seemingly without limits. He draws his atomic abilities by tapping into a force beyond compression, the laws of physics are his to command!

Disney Stitch Funko POP, Funko POPS & Disney Funko POPS, Disney Stitch Seated

Disney Stitch Funko POP, Funko POPS & Disney Funko POPS, Disney Stitch Seated

Disney Stitch Seated Funko POP

From Disney Lilo & Stitch, Stitch Seated, stylized as a Funko POP! Stitch (also known as Experiment 626) is one of the titular protagonists of the Lilo & Stitch franchise. He is an illegal, genetic experiment created by Jumba Jookiba, whose primary function is to destroy everything he touches. After escaping the lawful Galactic Armada, Stitch crash-lands on Earth, on the Hawaiian island of Kauai, where he meets a lonely girl named Lilo. Through Lilo’s love and guidance, Stitch abandons his evil programming, permanently reforms, and becomes part of Lilo’s Ohana (family). Stitch is a blue koala-like alien standing around 3 feet tall. He has large rabbit-like ears (with asymmetrical notches on the outer rims of each ear, one near the tip of his right ear, one near the base of his left ear, with the back of the ear tips colored indigo), a wide mouth, a round nose, black eyes, a small, short and stumpy tail. 3 tufts of fur on top of his head and on his chest, aqua countershading around his eyes and from his lower lip extending down to the bottom of his abdomen, 4 arms (2 of which are usually retracted), 3 retractable spines that run down his back, 4 sharp retractable claws on each of his front and back paws (hands and feet), 2 retractable antennae on his head, and abstract indigo markings on his back and occiput that vaguely look similar to snow angels (with the back marking having 2 large “bulges” in the middle that allude to his 4 arms).

He is referred to as a dog by Lilo throughout much of the franchise, as he was taken to a pound and disguised himself as one in order to escape his captors by being adopted by Lilo. He was initially believed by Lilo to be a collie that had been hit by a car, while Nani thought he was a koala of a sort before they found out he was an alien genetic experiment. He has a limited ability to change his physical appearance, as he can retract his lower set of arms, his claws, his antennae, and the 3 spines on his back into his body. Sanders’s initial design concepts for Stitch differ heavily from the final version. Stitch was originally going to have green fur, which was changed in early development to the now-familiar blue. His black eyes were slightly smaller compared to his final version, his ears flared at their bases instead of close to their tips, and some early drawings placed his nose below the eye line instead of above. The early drawings also showed him with white or silver claws instead of dark blue claws, and he wore a yellow-orange spacesuit with burnt orange pants instead of the more uniform red-orange spacesuit that he wears in the original film’s first act. While explaining his creation to the Galactic Council early on in Lilo & Stitch, Dr. Jumba gives the following rundown of Stitch’s powers: “He is bulletproof, fireproof, shockproof, and can think faster than supercomputer. He can see in the dark and can move objects 3,000 times his size. His only instinct: to destroy everything he touches“!

Fumikage Tokoyami Funko POP, Funko POPS & My Hero Academia Funko POPS, Fumikage Tokoyami "Jet-Black Hero"

Fumikage Tokoyami “Jet-Black Hero” Funko POP

From My Hero Academia, Fumikage TokoyamiJet-Black Hero“, as a stylized POP vinyl from Funko! Fumikage Tokoyami, also known as the Jet-Black Hero: Tsukuyomi, is a student in Class 1-A at U.A. High School, training to become a Pro Hero. Fumikage is a short young man with the head of a black bird, possibly supposed to resemble that of a crow or a raven. He has a tan, yellowish beak which is slightly hooked down at the end, thin, red eyes with a small black pupil, one on each side of his head, and a red choker, which he rarely removes. Despite the appearance of his head, however, his body looks like one of a normal human, with rather fair skin. After his internship training with Hawks, Fumikage has become more muscular. After the Paranormal Liberation War, he gains a scar on his left foot as a result of Dabi’s flames. His costume consists of a robe, black, but tinted a dark purple where light hits it, that covers his entire body, only stopping halfway down his shins, and knee-high black boots. During the Joint Training Arc, it was revealed that under this cape he wears a dark t-shirt, wristbands, a pair of baggy pants, similar to the ones Katsuki Bakugo wears in his hero costume, and a utility belt with a double pin buckle.

Fumikage’s Quirk allows him to manifest a sentient, shadowy being from his body that he can control and use, both in combat scenarios as well as to aid him and allies. The creature Dark Shadow is in fact a sentient being who communicates with Fumikage telepathically and acts somewhat like a guardian towards the young hero in training. Dark Shadow is capable of shapeshifting to some extent, and can use it’s long body and claws as weapons, as shown with how it attacked Momo Yaoyorozu during the Sports Festival match and easily knocked her out of the ring. However, one major drawback is balancing Dark Shadow’s great power with Fumikage’s control over it. In the light, Dark Shadow is more docile yet can still be controlled and (mostly) follows Fumikage’s command to the letter. In the darkness however, Dark Shadow becomes extremely more powerful but also more chaotic, destructive and uncontrollable. This power extends to where Dark Shadow in the night of the forest camp, was capable of defeating Moonfish, an extremely powerful and dangerous B-Rank villain, and cut through his blade-like teeth with relative ease and knocked the villain out cold. Furthermore, Dark Shadow is also naturally weak against light, as shown by how Katsuki Bakugo used his Explosion Quirk to incapacitate the creature.

Baby Yoda Grogu Funko POP, Funko POPS & Star Wars Funko POPS, Baby Yoda Grogu "The Child with Cup" from The Mandalorian

Baby Yoda Grogu “The Child with Cup” from The Mandalorian Funko POP

From Star Wars: The Mandalorian, Baby Yoda Grogu, as a stylized vinyl Funko POP. Grogu, colloquially referred to as Baby Yoda, is a character from the Star Wars Disney+ original television series The Mandalorian. He is a toddler member of the same unnamed species as the Star Wars characters Yoda and Yaddle, with whom he shares a strong ability in the Force. In the series, the protagonist known as “the Mandalorian” is hired to track down and capture Grogu for a remnant of the fallen Galactic Empire, but instead, he becomes his adoptive father and protects him from the Imperials. The character’s real name was not revealed until “Chapter 13: The Jedi”, which also explained that Grogu was raised at the Jedi Temple on Coruscant during the Clone Wars. Prior to this, the character’s official name, as used in subtitles and captions, was “The Child“. Grogu has appeared in every episode of the first 2 seasons, with the exception of “Chapter 15: The Believer”. He was created by The Mandalorian creator and showrunner Jon Favreau based upon his desire to explore the mystery around Yoda and his species. The character was further developed in early conversations between Favreau and executive producer Dave Filoni, and the character’s imagery was defined by concept artist Christian Alzmann.

Grogu is mostly a work of animatronics and puppetry, although accentuated with computer-generated imagery. The puppet was designed by Legacy Effects. Actor Adam Pally has stated that showrunner Jon Favreau told him it cost about $5 million to make. It is controlled by 2 technicians, one who operates the eyes and mouth and another who controls other facial expressions. The character’s voice and sounds were created using a combination of adult and infant vocals, as well as recordings of a bat-eared fox and kinkajou. The dynamic between the Mandalorian and Grogu embodies a theme of parenting and fatherhood prevalent in The Mandalorian, with the character also raising questions about good and evil and nature versus nurture in the series. Grogu has received a positive reception from fans and reviewers, is widely considered the show’s breakout character, and quickly became a popular Internet meme. The Guardian called him “2019‘s biggest new character“, and The Hollywood Reporter has said the character “represents the future of Hollywood”. Many writers have described Grogu as a key part in the success of Disney+.

Grogu was kept secret and was deliberately withheld from The Mandalorian’s pre-release marketing and merchandise plans to avoid leaks before the show aired. As a result, merchandise of Grogu was not immediately available after the first season debuted in November 2019, which some analysts say cost Disney $2.7 million in revenue, but Bob Iger, Disney’s CEO at the time of The Mandalorian’s premiere, has defended the strategy. A member of the same species as the Star Wars character Yoda, he is 50 years old during the events of The Mandalorian, but still appears to be an infant because of the pace at which that species matures. The species has never been given a proper name because Star Wars creator George Lucas wanted Yoda to maintain a sense of mystery. Until Chapter 13 (episode 5 of season 2) of The Mandalorian, Grogu was not identified by a proper name, being referred to by sympathetic characters as “the child”, “the kid”, or “the baby”, and by the antagonists as “the asset”, “the bounty”, “the target”, or “the donor”.

Monster Wampa Funko POP, Funko POPS & Star Wars Funko POPS, Monster Wampa from Star Wars Battle at Echo Base

Monster Wampa from Star Wars Battle at Echo Base Funko POP

From Star Wars: Battle at Echo Base, Monster Wampa, as a stylized vinyl Funko POP. Wampas are a horned, clawed, white-furred, carnivorous species of snow monsters native to the frozen world of Hoth. They are a semi-sentient race of predators standing over 2 m (6.6 ft) in height, subsisting in the cold climate by hunting tauntauns, their primary prey. Wampas are usually solitary creatures, but are known to occasionally hunt in packs. Their white fur allows wampas to blend-in with Hoth’s blinding blizzards, enabling them to catch their prey completely unaware. Once they have made their kill, wampas drag the carcasses back to their icy lair, where they suspend them from the ceiling until ready to eat them. Due to the extreme temperatures of Hoth and the cold-blooded nature of the wampa, the creatures are difficult to track on radar.

A similar species is believed to inhabit the planet Gall, in the Outer Rim. The wampa made its first appearance in The Empire Strikes Back (1980), as a predator that attacks Luke and eats his tauntaun. Several other wampa sequences were planned for The Empire Strikes Back, but were ultimately cut. The wampa also made an appearance in the Family Guy special “Something, Something, Something, Dark Side” (2009), being depicted as Cookie Monster from Sesame Street. Standing at a height of 2.5 to 3 meters and with an average mass of 150 kilograms, the wampa was one of Hoth’s top carnivorous predators. The mammals sported a pair of small cranial horns and lived in caves. Wampas also demonstrated a form of sentience and cared greatly about their clans.

Saint Seiya Phoenix Ikki Funko POP, Funko POPS & Saint Seiya Funko POPS, Saint Seiya Phoenix Ikki with Phoenix Cloth

Saint Seiya Phoenix Ikki with Phoenix Cloth Funko POP

From Saint Seiya, Phoenix Ikki, as a stylized Funko POP. Phoenix Ikki (Fenikkusu no Ikki, “Gleam“) is the Bronze Saint of Phoenix. Although he was introduced later than the other 4 main Bronze Saints, Ikki’s role in the story is quite significant. He serves as the first antagonist in the series that the other Saints must defeat, as well as a powerful ally later in the series. While Ikki is officially recognized as a Bronze Saint, his base power easily places him well above most Silver Saints, and his reputation as a powerhouse is common knowledge among his peers and fellow Bronze Saints. Even as a child, Ikki was known as the toughest kid of the 100 orphans, and would often defend his then delicate younger brother Shun from the other children. He could easily be recognized as the strongest Bronze Saint when it comes to raw power. Ikki’s personality is drastically different from his fellow Saints. He is almost the opposite of his younger brother, Shun is calm, soft, caring and very emotional, whereas Ikki is harsh, cold, aggressive, and very much of a loner. Fellow Saint Wolf Nachi once pointed out that it was very hard to believe Ikki and Shun were related due to the extreme difference in their personalities.

As noted by Kanon in the Poseidon arc and by Pandora in the Hades chapter, Ikki’s Cosmo is unique to him, it is full of hatred, anger, incredible aggression and power, but it was still guided by his deep love and loyalty for his younger brother, his friends and loyalty to Athena. Although he dislikes teamwork, he comes to battle whenever Athena’s Saints need his help, and is often seen coming in the nick of time to save his younger brother and friends from certain death. This tactic has always been exploited to their advantage, since the enemies are caught by surprise upon meeting/fighting him. He is a noble, complex and mature character, who does not doubt whenever it’s necessary to sacrifice his life for his friends. The Phoenix Cloth is one of the Bronze Cloths. It has evolved 3 times in the manga and the anime. It was originally decided that Shun would go to Death Queen Island to obtain this Cloth, but Ikki went in Shun’s place to protect his brother. Ikki kills his master, the owner of the cloth, and thus gains the Phoenix Cloth.

It has also been mentioned that Ikki is the first Saint since the mythological era who has been able to wear the Cloth. The Phoenix Cloth is based on the constellation of the same name. In Greek and Egyptian mythology, the Phoenix was a legendary bird that was particularly noted for being immortal, when about to die, the creature would immolate itself, and then be reborn as a chick from its own ashes. Accounts vary on the appearance of the phoenix, but it has been stated to be either a fiery red or purple color, the purple hue desginates the phoenix as a symbol of royalty, in addition to being an emblem of resurrection, the Sun and Eternal Life. In Christianity, the phoenix also serves as a symbol of Jesus Christ. In demonology, it is also the name of a demon of Hell, who appears as his namesake with a sweet, seductive voice, and if handled correctly, the demon Phoenix is able to aid his summoner in the fields of poetry and science. This demon is also said to be regretful of his decision to follow Satan, and seeks redemption from God in order to return to Heaven.

Saint Seiya Andromeda Shun with Andromeda Cloth Funko POP

Andromeda Shun (Andoromeda no Shun, “Twinkle, Instant“), also known as Shun, is one of the Bronze Saints. He is arguably one of the strongest in the series, although his gentle disposition and kind nature tend to prevent him from using his true power, unless he is forced to do so. Shun is also the younger brother of Phoenix Ikki, a fellow Bronze Saint. Shun has the purest soul in his era and is the “Chosen One“. Whether or not he is a reincarnation of a previous vessel of Hades is unknown, but Tenma implied that Shun and Alone are similar in Next Dimension. Shun is considered to be a very handsome young man. During the Galaxian Wars in the coliseum, the female spectators cheered for Shun during his match against Unicorn Jabu, saying that he was beautiful. Various of Shun’s opponents have also made remarks about his appearance: Perseus Algol calling him “handsome little boy” and Pisces Aphrodite later referring to him as a “pretty boy“.

It is evident that his features are inspired by his guardian constellation, Andromeda, who was praised for her beauty in Greek mythology. Shun is a pacifist, and the most reluctant of the Bronze Saints when a situation must be resolved by violence. He is a merciful soul by nature, and a firm believer in solving problems without causing bloodshed. This creates a sharp contrast between himself and the rest of the Saints: Whereas the others will not hesitate to battle when the situation demands it, Shun only allows himself to fight if it’s an absolute necessity, or when his almost endless patience wears out. When this is the case, Shun can become an extremely skilled and deadly fighter. His kindness also lets Charon abandon the attack and his sorrow distracts Lune unintentionally so Kanon can mind control Lune. Shun is shown as a competent and tough, if unwilling, fighter and opponent. In “Sanctuary“, he manages to hold his own against Gemini Saga, and even manages to kill Pisces Aphrodite, both of them Gold Saints.

He is the second of the Bronze Saints to achieve his God Cloth. Though he may be adverse to fighting, he will fight when he is required to, and is just as powerful or skilled as any of the other main Bronze Saints. The Andromeda Cloth is one of the Bronze Cloths, currently in the keeping of the Bronze Saint Shun. The Andromeda Cloth represents the Andromeda Constellation. The constellation is based on the myth of Andromeda, an Ethopian princess. Her mother, Queen Cassiopeia, had boasted of being more beautiful than the 50 Nereids, sea nymphs and the daughters of the god Nereus. When they learned of Cassiopeia’s claim, they complained to Poseidon, whose wife was also a Nereid. In retaliation, Poseidon sent a sea monster, Cetus, to ravage the kingdom. When Cassiopeia’s husband, Cepheus, asked an oracle what could be done to save his people, Poseidon demanded that Andromeda be chained to a rock as a sacrifice to him, to be eaten alive by Cetus. The chains from the Andromeda Cloth are said to be the very same chains used to bind the mythological character in the story.

Luckily, Andromeda was rescued from death by the hero Perseus, who fell in love with her while returning home and offered to free her if her parents would allow him to marry the princess. Having gained the agreement of Andromeda’s family, Perseus turned Cetus to stone with the head of the gorgon Medusa and saved the girl’s life. However, when they returned to Ethiopia, they were met by the angry Phineus, Andromeda’s uncle, who had been engaged to her before she was offered as a sacrifice. Outnumbered by Phineus’s men, Perseus turned all of them to stone and married Andromeda, remaining with her and their son in Ethiopia for a year before going back to his own home, Seriphos. Andromeda accompanies her husband when he goes to save his mother Danae from being married against her will, and becomes Queen of Mycenae when Perseus switches rulership of Argos with the former Mycenae king. After their deaths, the gods placed Perseus and Andromeda in the sky as constellations for their heroism. One of Perseus and Andromeda‘s descendants is said to be the hero Heracles.

That’s why he has blue eyes and tanned blond hair, showing his foreign origin among his other brothers who lived in Japan. Hyoga often wears a blue shirt and black pants, also wears orange leg warmers and black shoes. In the manga, his clothes are more varied. In Hades phase, he is shown in a beige coat in the cold. Hyoga appears calm, collected, and unemotional. Beneath the surface, however, he is passionate and devoted to his ideals.

The Cygnus Cloth is one of the Bronze Cloths, located in Siberia. The Cygnus Cloth represents the Cygnus Constellation, which is associated to various swans from Greek mythology, and this includes Zeus, disguised as a swan to seduce the Spartan Queen Leda, a beloved son of Ares named Cygnos who was killed in a wrestling match by the hero Heracles, and the musician Orpheus, who in some tellings was transformed into a swan after his murder at the hands of the god Dionysus‘s followers. Swans also served as one of the sacred birds of the goddess Aphrodite. The Cygnus Constellation is also known as the Northern Cross, and it’s the reason why Kurumada made Hyoga always carry a cross and rosary with him.
