Baby Yoda Grogu “The Child with Cup” from The Mandalorian Funko POP

From Star Wars: The Mandalorian, Baby Yoda Grogu, as a stylized vinyl Funko POP. Grogu, colloquially referred to as Baby Yoda, is a character from the Star Wars Disney+ original television series The Mandalorian. He is a toddler member of the same unnamed species as the Star Wars characters Yoda and Yaddle, with whom he shares a strong ability in the Force. In the series, the protagonist known as “the Mandalorian” is hired to track down and capture Grogu for a remnant of the fallen Galactic Empire, but instead, he becomes his adoptive father and protects him from the Imperials. The character’s real name was not revealed until “Chapter 13: The Jedi”, which also explained that Grogu was raised at the Jedi Temple on Coruscant during the Clone Wars. Prior to this, the character’s official name, as used in subtitles and captions, was “The Child“. Grogu has appeared in every episode of the first 2 seasons, with the exception of “Chapter 15: The Believer”. He was created by The Mandalorian creator and showrunner Jon Favreau based upon his desire to explore the mystery around Yoda and his species. The character was further developed in early conversations between Favreau and executive producer Dave Filoni, and the character’s imagery was defined by concept artist Christian Alzmann.

Grogu is mostly a work of animatronics and puppetry, although accentuated with computer-generated imagery. The puppet was designed by Legacy Effects. Actor Adam Pally has stated that showrunner Jon Favreau told him it cost about $5 million to make. It is controlled by 2 technicians, one who operates the eyes and mouth and another who controls other facial expressions. The character’s voice and sounds were created using a combination of adult and infant vocals, as well as recordings of a bat-eared fox and kinkajou. The dynamic between the Mandalorian and Grogu embodies a theme of parenting and fatherhood prevalent in The Mandalorian, with the character also raising questions about good and evil and nature versus nurture in the series. Grogu has received a positive reception from fans and reviewers, is widely considered the show’s breakout character, and quickly became a popular Internet meme. The Guardian called him “2019‘s biggest new character“, and The Hollywood Reporter has said the character “represents the future of Hollywood”. Many writers have described Grogu as a key part in the success of Disney+.

Grogu was kept secret and was deliberately withheld from The Mandalorian’s pre-release marketing and merchandise plans to avoid leaks before the show aired. As a result, merchandise of Grogu was not immediately available after the first season debuted in November 2019, which some analysts say cost Disney $2.7 million in revenue, but Bob Iger, Disney’s CEO at the time of The Mandalorian’s premiere, has defended the strategy. A member of the same species as the Star Wars character Yoda, he is 50 years old during the events of The Mandalorian, but still appears to be an infant because of the pace at which that species matures. The species has never been given a proper name because Star Wars creator George Lucas wanted Yoda to maintain a sense of mystery. Until Chapter 13 (episode 5 of season 2) of The Mandalorian, Grogu was not identified by a proper name, being referred to by sympathetic characters as “the child”, “the kid”, or “the baby”, and by the antagonists as “the asset”, “the bounty”, “the target”, or “the donor”.

Monster Wampa from Star Wars Battle at Echo Base Funko POP

From Star Wars: Battle at Echo Base, Monster Wampa, as a stylized vinyl Funko POP. Wampas are a horned, clawed, white-furred, carnivorous species of snow monsters native to the frozen world of Hoth. They are a semi-sentient race of predators standing over 2 m (6.6 ft) in height, subsisting in the cold climate by hunting tauntauns, their primary prey. Wampas are usually solitary creatures, but are known to occasionally hunt in packs. Their white fur allows wampas to blend-in with Hoth’s blinding blizzards, enabling them to catch their prey completely unaware. Once they have made their kill, wampas drag the carcasses back to their icy lair, where they suspend them from the ceiling until ready to eat them. Due to the extreme temperatures of Hoth and the cold-blooded nature of the wampa, the creatures are difficult to track on radar.

A similar species is believed to inhabit the planet Gall, in the Outer Rim. The wampa made its first appearance in The Empire Strikes Back (1980), as a predator that attacks Luke and eats his tauntaun. Several other wampa sequences were planned for The Empire Strikes Back, but were ultimately cut. The wampa also made an appearance in the Family Guy special “Something, Something, Something, Dark Side” (2009), being depicted as Cookie Monster from Sesame Street. Standing at a height of 2.5 to 3 meters and with an average mass of 150 kilograms, the wampa was one of Hoth’s top carnivorous predators. The mammals sported a pair of small cranial horns and lived in caves. Wampas also demonstrated a form of sentience and cared greatly about their clans.

Chewbacca Funko POP, Funko POPS & Star Wars Funko POPS, Flocked Chewbacca from Star Wars Battle at Echo Base

Chewbacca Funko POP, Funko POPS & Star Wars Funko POPS, Flocked Chewbacca from Star Wars Battle at Echo Base

Flocked Chewbacca from Star Wars Battle at Echo Base Funko POP

From Star Wars: Battle at Echo Base, Flocked Chewbacca, as a stylized vinyl Funko POP. Chewbacca, nicknamed Chewbe, is a character from the Star Wars universe, a 6-foot tall Wookiee and co-pilot of Ian Solo‘s ship, the Millennium Falcon. Wise and great technician, he is very familiar with technology, he is perfectly able to understand Galactic Basic, but due to his physical structure he cannot speak it, so he responds in his native language, Shyriiwook. Chewbacca is a Wookiee born around 200 BBY on the planet of Kashyyyk, the homeworld of his own species. He will meet the young smuggler Ian Solo with whom he will become a loyal friend and co-pilot aboard the Millennium Falcon. More than 2 meters tall, Chewbacca is entirely covered in thick fur and wears only a bandolier. His favorite weapon is the Bowcaster Wookiee (a crossbow-like weapon that emits energy beams like blasters).

Chewbacca is able to understand the language of humans, the galactic basic, but he is not physically able to speak it, which is why he speaks only in his native language, the Shyriiwook (which sounds like the cry of an animal growls), which a in turn it is understood by the other characters without the need for an interpreter. In Chewbacca’s youth, he was somewhat reckless. However, during Chewbacca’s later years, he becomes responsible, intelligent, calculating, kind, caring, brave, loyal, passionate, moral, honorable, selfless, and trustworthy, as Chewbacca often served as Han Solo’s conscience in their smuggling endeavors, which makes individuals trust him more than they did Han. Chewbacca is also known to be stubborn, and dislikes losing, whether at holographic games or at life. As a Wookiee, Chewbacca knows passion and, thus, the Rebellion. He would have stood with the rebels from the beginning, if not for Han and the Millennium Falcon since he would not abandon them as he is bound to both, as they are to him. Although Chewbacca is capable of speaking other languages, particularly Basic, he prefers to communicate only with his native language, which is likely due to Chewbacca being proud of his Wookiee Heritage.

K-2SO (Kay-Too-Ess-Oh) Funko POP, Funko POPS & Star Wars Funko POPS, KX-series Security Droid K-2SO

KX-series Security Droid K-2SO (Kay-Too-Ess-Oh) Funko POP

From Star Wars, K-2SO (Kay-Too-Ess-Oh), as a stylized vinyl Funko POP. K-2SO, abbreviated K-2 (Kay-Tu or Kaytoo) or Kay, was a KX-series security droid originally created for use in the Galactic Empire‘s armed forces. At some point, the droid encountered Captain Cassian Andor, a member of the resistance movement, known as the Rebel Alliance, that sought to overthrow the Empire and restore democracy to the galaxy. Andor was able to reprogram K-2SO to serve the Alliance on the planet Wecacoe. In 0 BBY, K-2SO participated in the Battle of Scarif, where he sacrificed himself so that Andor and Jyn Erso could steal the plans to the Empire’s moon-sized battle station, the Death Star. K-2SO was one of the KX-series security droids assigned to the Imperial Stormtrooper detachment on the planet Wecacoe. K-2SO heard a noise near a decommissioned Imperial cruiser. There he encountered Rebel agent Cassian Andor and arrested him. K-2SO and Andor then fought each other until Kertas and Rismor found his kill switch. Cassian then attempted to wipe K-2SO’s memory clean. However, only 29.73% of K-2SO’s memory had been erased, and he then strangled Cassian. Kertas and Rismor were able to turn him off again. Cassian gave K-2 new orders to lead him, Kertas, and Rismor back to their ship. K-2 stated he would “take out” anyone who interfered with them. He escorted Cassian and the twins as his prisoners, but came under attack by several stormtroopers.

He, the twins, and Cassian attacked the troopers. As the K-2SO’s group got to their vehicle, stormtroopers surrounded it, and K-2 attempted to arrest Andor again. As Rismor drew the troops away, Kertas told Cassian to take K-2SO because he had the intel they needed. After Cassian’s ship was destroyed, K-2 still had 8.3% of his memory and tried to decide to either terminate or arrest Cassian. Cassian removed the base layer of his programming and shut him down. K-2 turned on and took out the stormtroopers. K-2 and Andor then found a ship. Together, they made their escape. While most KX-series droids were effectively emotionless drones, minor errors and glitches in K-2SO‘s reprogramming led to the development of a fully self-aware personality, he was cynical, prone to sarcasm, and stoic, often mentioning that he had calculated the poor odds of success in any given situation (which Andor would then refuse to hear). His sarcasm extended to the point where he would disobey minor orders and prove his ability in given missions, as seen on Jedha. He was fairly independent and frequently disobeyed orders he felt were counterproductive, scolding his organic compatriots for ignoring his advice. He genuinely regarded Andor as a friend, however, felt no hesitation in sacrificing himself in order to protect him and Jyn Erso during their mission to steal the plans to the Death Star.

From Star Wars, Darth Vader and his Lightsaber, stylized as an electronic Funko POP. Darth Vader lights up and makes his iconic “breathing” sound. Celebrate one of pop culture’s most recognizable villains and proclaim your allegiance to the dark side with this Darth Vader with Lightsaber Funko POP. Darth Vader is a fictional character in the Star Wars franchise. The character is the primary antagonist in the original trilogy and, as Anakin Skywalker, is a primary protagonist in the prequel trilogy. Star Wars creator George Lucas has collectively referred to the first six episodic films of the franchise as “the tragedy of Darth Vader“. Originally a slave on Tatooine, Anakin Skywalker is a Jedi prophesied to bring balance to the Force. He is lured to the dark side of the Force by Palpatine and becomes a Sith Lord, assuming the title Darth Vader. After a lightsaber battle with his former mentor Obi-Wan Kenobi on Mustafar, in which he is severely injured, Vader is transformed into a cyborg.

He then serves the Galactic Empire as its chief enforcer. Vader ultimately redeems himself by saving his son, Luke Skywalker, and killing Palpatine, sacrificing his own life in the process. He is also the secret husband of Padmé Amidala, biological father of Princess Leia, and maternal grandfather of Kylo Ren. Darth Vader has become one of the most iconic villains in popular culture, and has been listed among the greatest villains and fictional characters ever. Darth Vader’s Lightsaber was the personal lightsaber of Darth Vader, a Sith Lord who served as Darth Sidious’ last apprentice and supreme military commander of the Galactic Empire. He built the weapon after he lost his previous saber during a skirmish on Cabarria. The lightsaber would later be used to destroy Obi-Wan Kenobi and cut off the right hand of his son, Luke Skywalker. During their confrontation on the second Death Star, Luke returned the favor, cutting off the right hand of Darth Vader.

The Darth Vader’s Lightsaber was equipped with a dual-phase function, allowing the blade’s length to be manually controlled and altered in combat. The weapon featured a black-ridged handgrip, black power cell chamber, beveled emitter shroud, two dual-phase focusing crystals, high-output diatium power cell and customary power and length adjustment knobs. Darth Vader was constantly fine-tuning and upgrading his lightsaber for maximum blade power and stability. Because of the modifications Vader made to his lightsaber over the years, its exterior also changed, somewhat, in appearance (though its design was mostly based on his first Jedi lightsaber). Vader appeared to have experimented with a rounded emitter shroud similar to his second Jedi weapon. As a Dark Lord of the Sith, Vader would often utilize his lightsaber during confrontations with Jedi, but also against other opponents, even though he sometimes preferred to use the Force to dispatch lesser victims.
