The verse Ayah 255 from Surah Baqarah commonly referred to as Ayatul Kursi (meaning “The Throne“). It is likely the most well known ayat across the entire Ummah, estimation is that hundreds of million of people know it by heart. It would more difficult to find a believing Muslim who doesn’t know Ayatul Kursi than one who does. This is something you really can’t say about many other verses from the Quran. The Throne Verse is the 255th verse of the 2nd surah of the Quran, Al-Baqarah (Q2:255). The verse speaks about how nothing and nobody is regarded to be comparable to God. This is one of the best-known verses of the Quran and is widely memorised and displayed in the Muslim world. It is often recited as a practice of apotropaic magic to ward off jinn.
Jinn, also romanized as djinn or anglicized as genie (with the broader meaning of spirit or demon, depending on source) are supernatural creatures in early pre-Islamic Arabian and later Islamic mythology and theology. Like humans, they are created with fitra, neither born as believers nor as unbelievers, but their attitude depends on whether they accept God’s guidance. Since jinn are neither innately evil nor innately good, Islam acknowledged spirits from other religions, and was able to adapt spirits from other religions during its expansion. Jinn are not a strictly Islamic concept; they may represent several pagan beliefs integrated into Islam.
